JSI - is the leading Slovenian research organization. It is responsible for a broad spectrum of basic and applied research in the fields of natural sciences and technology. Being well aware of the international nature of science, the Institute has devoted considerable efforts to international co-operation. Laboratory of Dielectric Spectroscopy and Calorimetry (LDSC) is a leading laboratory of JSI in the research of multiferroic materials with principal expertise in piezoelectric, dielectric, and thermal properties of materials as well as structural and spectroscopic techniques. The laboratory represents a world-leading partner in the field of research, production and engineering of electromechanical and electrocaloric materials and devices for potential application purposes. Facilities: Sol-gel preparations of thin films including other bulk and nano-materials synthesis methods are accessible to the project. Structural and spectroscopic techniques such as NMR, EPR, SEM, TEM, AFM, PFM, polarized microscopy, the broadband dielectric spectroscopy, high-resolution calorimetry, SQUID susceptometry, PPMS, and are standard equipment accessible to the group. Electrocaloric and electromechanical investigations are made by Aixact or calorimetric equipment allowing experiments on both bulk and thin film samples. Cryostats and temperature controllers allow experiments from 0.3 K up to 1700K. Theoretical modeling is supported by the Notos computing grid cluster. |
